Chat text

Stephan Verveen:
@Merel you can ‘mute all’ in the Participants window

Marlou Vriens:
So please ask your question, I will try to answer all! 🙂

Marlou Vriens:
participants can use “Raise hand” under “Participants” to announce that they wish to say something

Diderik Lock:
Will this zoom session be recorded?

Marlou Vriens:
Yes Merel is recording!

Ida Olsonen:
So much love, Merel! <3

Barbara Wessel:

Privacy en Zoom?

Willem Jan:
 How about Discord?

Jurriaan Grootes:
I tried discord, (others tried too), sounded awful, and not in sync

Sandra Vriese:
Where can you find original sound in the app (for tablet users)

Marleen Spierings:
@Sandra: there is no option for original sound on tablet version of Zoom

Sandra Vriese:
 Okay thanx!

Chantal Sennema:
Does anybody worked with Jamulus? its also a software program to sing together

Stephan Verveen: I tried Jamulus yesterday, there is no server in NL. For low latency, we need to be close to the server.

Martijn Bos:
I tried Jamkazam, on wired internet with audio interface: is too slow

Roland Chorleiter:
Where can I find ORIGINAL SOUND _i pad?

From Marlou Vriens:
@roland, original sound is in the upper left corner!

Jurriaan Grootes:
Original sound, look in the RAMA video

Deirdre van der Wolk:
Is it better to use the computer sound of the Mac instead of singing via inner ears?

Barbara Wessel:
Can you say something about privacy?

Ida Olsonen:
Does original sound exist in the mobile version (ipad/iphone)?

Merel van Eldik:
Should you both use it? So also the student? (Maybe a stupid question haha)

Marleen Spierings:
Original Sound is only available on the desktop version of Zoom, not for tablets/phones

Ida Olsonen:
Cheers Marleen, that was what I figured!

Martijn Bos:
You can also edit it next to the unmute option

Marlou Vriens:
@barbara wessel, I don’t know it by heart!

Roelof van der Sar:
does the whole choir need to enable orignal sound, or just the director?

Sander Gieling:
@Roelof: The one sending (the Zoom host) needs to enable Original sound.

Roelof van der Sar:
 thanx!

Ruben Smits:
Right, because all singers are muted anyway.

Marlou Vriens:
You can hear the difference right now!

Carolien van Workum:
do you also disable background noise?

Stephan Verveen:
In the Zoom menu, look for Audio settings and then the ‘advanced’ button

Marlou Vriens:
@carolien, what do you mean exactly??

Wilbert Friederichs:
I don’t see a switch ‘Original sound’ or something like that on my screen.

Marlou Vriens:
@wilbert, you need enable it in the settings! Go to preferences in the menu and then to advanced features

Jurriaan Grootes:
@wilbert https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50NoWIiYECA

Wilbert Friederichs:
Thanks!

Carolien van Workum:
if you do your settings in advanced you can disable background noise (twice)

Marlou Vriens:
@carolien, the background noise can’t be canceled like that… but you mean the buzz in the background or of the microphone?

Heleen Karsdorp:
Still a bit too soft, Sander

Marleen Spierings:
Could have a bit more gain @ Sander

Caroline Belotti:
do you have the whole group or separate groups for sop, alto, tenors and basses?

Kim Beekman-de Fuijk:
@caroline, I separate my groups totaly.
indeed, sop, alt, ten, bas

Martijn Bos:
technical question: I was trying some settings yesterday: my internal microphone was fine, but my mic over audio interface gave same cracks.
Is there something I need to adapt in any settings for that?

Marlou Vriens:
I will ask Sander, cause I think we will all benefit ;)

Agnes Ostheimer:
amazing difference in sound quality between Sanders and Merkels microphone!!!

Marlou Vriens:
Have a good internet connection, preferably a cable!

Marleen Spierings:
@Marlou: which type of microphone are you using?

Marlou Vriens:
I have a Røde microphone!

Kim Beekman-de Fuijk:
@elise, can you mute? 🙂

Tim Achthoven:
@Elise, could you mute?:)

Elise Zijlstra:
Is it possible to use a mic and Scarlett Fosite?

Mariette Bastiaansen:
do you have to put the cable in the modem or is router also okay?

Heleen Karsdorp:
When you have glasvezelnet, do you still need a network wire?

Stephan Verveen:
@Heleen, the computer itself needs to be wired to the network. Wifi introduces latency

Heleen Karsdorp:
Dank je, Stephan Verveen

Elise Zijlstra:
Ah, he is showing now…. :-)

Brechtje Verboven:
you can also use a recordingdevice

Marlou Vriens:
 Yes Brechtje

Marleen Spierings:
@Sander: do you connect your piano to the audio interface? And how do you get that sound in Zoom?

Marlou Vriens:
Piano is connected to the audio interface @ Marleen

Marleen Spierings:
Thank you!

Agnes Ostheimer:
sound got worse all of a sudden

Lilian S:
undo the system sound to prevent double

Marlou Vriens:
Thanks Lillian

Ruben Smits:
put the mic down and it’s solved.

Stephanie Kramer:
Gain down to your mic!

Ruben Smits:
Double input: 1) the built-in mic (becomes same as system when you share) and 2) the hand-held ic.

Marlou Vriens:
I was trying some settings yesterday: my internal microphone was fine, but my mic over audio interface gave same cracks.

Jurriaan Grootes:
perhaps use the “select a microphone” to choose to skip the mic and use just computer sound.

Marlou Vriens:
 Thanks Jurriaan!
You can change your settings in microphone and audio settings!

Jurriaan Grootes:
and directly next to the mute icon..

Ferdinand Beuse:
 https://www.thomann.de/nl/superlux_e205u.htm

Chantal Sennema:
same here Merel!

Jacqueline Nelissen:
me too.

Ida Olsonen:
Merel, do you find that “original sound” still improves the sound with said tech setting?

Marlou Vriens:
Only people unmute with original sound on and a cable internet connection

Esther van Es:
Please unmute!

Kim Beekman-de Fuijk:
how does it sound for you?

Esther van Es:
Sorry! Haha, please mute!

Peder Karlsson:
Yay! (to Merels solfa stuff)

Ida Olsonen:
I M P R E S S I V E !

Kim Beekman-de Fuijk:
for me I do not hear everyone. just me and some people

Marlou Vriens:
Same here ;)

Kim Beekman-de Fuijk:
oke marlou, good to know :-)

Jacqueline Nelissen:
exactly what I did today with my choir

Jurriaan Grootes:
 mute or unmute?

Peder Karlsson:
For the record: yes I think I invented this exercise “Pitch Darts”. Merel has improved quite a lot how to do it. And I think other people do similar things also.

Kim Beekman-de Fuijk:
 that was fun

Martijn Bos:
You can also just share sound

Marlou Vriens:
 Yes Martijn!

Marleen Spierings:
 @Martijn: how?

Marlou Vriens:
I will address that in a bit Marleen

Martijn Bos:
Great!

Ida Olsonen:
From the share screen > advanced > share computer sound

Jurriaan Grootes:
I also used the physical warm up from Panda van Proosdij… recommended

Kim Beekman-de Fuijk:
When you share screen, you cannot see everybody. how to fix?

Stephan Verveen:
So Choreo can be exercised just fine :-)

Ruben Smits:
 Turn on original sound?

Pepijn Lagerwey:
 please turn in Original sound

Kim Beekman-de Fuijk:
I have a problem hearing this

Marlou Vriens:
 Original sound is on!
Better right??

Jurriaan Grootes:
yes

Pepijn Lagerwey:
 yes

Kim Beekman-de Fuijk:
a bit yes

Peder Karlsson:
Very good example of what happens when you turn on Original sound!!

Caroline Belotti:
so if we can share a screen with parts, that´s a good way to rehearse? is that correct? I mean on YouTube or elsewhere.

Marlou Vriens:
@caroline, yes you can do that, via sibelius, youtube is a bit tricky

Kim Beekman-de Fuijk:
I dont know this one. Is it on paper <3?

Chantal Sennema:
yesterday i tried it in MuseScore but somehow it would play in zoom what can i do?j

Jurriaan Grootes:
 bass staff was outside screen…

Marlou Vriens:
If you sing a long, it can be out of sync sometimes….

Carolien van Workum:
did you ’share computer sound’? or not?

Sander Gieling:
Use Panorama View in Sibelius!

Anja Kwakkestein:
Is that also possible with GarageBand?

Marysia Van der Laaken-Pardoen:
Can you show or tell again how you change the volume per voice?

Martijn Bos:
 You can just share sound

Dirkjan Horringa:
If you play from Sibelius, please set it to view/panorama view

Marlou Vriens:
You put up the mixer in sibelius

Diderik Lock:
You can pin one person

Jurriaan Grootes:
and on a Phone gallery view is 4 persons

Mark Hilgenkamp:
 Share advanced

Diderik Lock:
There is option to pin 1 video.

Marlou Vriens:
Share advanced and then only computer sound

Martijn Bos:
In the settings of share screen there is also the possibility of shareonly sound

Ruben Smits:
Share Screen —> Advanced —> Sound only.

Marlou Vriens:
 Thank you all colleagues!!

Stephan Verveen:
WOW! Didn’t know that! Thank you!

Marlou Vriens:
 Yay!!

Heleen Karsdorp:
Werkt een Musescore bestand ook op Share screen

Stephan Verveen:
@Heleen ja, maakt niet uit welk programma je gebruikt

Kim Beekman-de Fuijk:
can someone please write this down?

Marlou Vriens:
Please write your own notes, and save chat at the end of the session!!

Marlou Vriens:
 Thanks Lillian

Brechtje Verboven:
what is alternate in dutch?

Stephan Verveen:
@Heleen moet ik zelf ook nog nakijken. Musescore is hier wat onhandiger in lijkt het.

Lotte Sieverink:
 @Brechtje om en om

Lilian S:
afwisselen

Marlou Vriens:
There is also a video about how to root your Sibelius sound in ZOOM, please check it out!!

Heleen Karsdorp:
@Stephan, Inderdaad, het is me ook nog niet gelukt

Marlou Vriens:
You can find it on our Facebook page

Sander Gieling:
-> how to route

Marlou Vriens:
 Thanks Sander, autocorrect hahahaha

Peder Karlsson:
name of the exercise: Chase the beat
Stephan Verveen:
Super exercise!

Merel van Eldik:
should all the choir members or students turn on original sound if we want to sing together?
Or can I do it for everyone?

Peder Karlsson:
 @Merel van Eldik – I think yes

Jurriaan Grootes: Marlou you are still soft

Kim Beekman-de Fuijk:
do you all hear the brrrr or is it my settings?

Peder Karlsson:
@Kim – it could be your wifi

Kim Beekman-de Fuijk:
ok thanks peder

Jurriaan Grootes:
 is the mic directional?

Wilco Stronks: better

Glenn Liebaut:

Elzemien Brouwer:
I dont’t know how i ‘share screen’ on my ipad

Hendrikje Soethout:
thanks to everebody I have to go…………..

Peder Karlsson:
@Elzemien – I’m not sure whether that is because Merel would have to allow you to share screen, or if it’s a limitation with i Pad

Merel Martens:
It is a limitation with iPad

Stephan Verveen:
 iPad screensharing
